Death and Rot
Death is a very apparent motif in Hamlet. After murdering Polonius, Hamlet becomes obsessed with death in all ways possible. He even jokes that Polonius is at dinner when he is asked where he put the body. Death makes everyone equal no matter what their status was while they were living. No matter what kind of clothing one had, the money one had, or the social position they were in, everyone becomes a rotting corpse when they die. Hamlet is fascinated by this realization
