Hamlet is furious that his mother would marry so soon after his father's death. Adding the fact that his mother's new husband is his uncle, Hamlet is even more furious with his mother. Hamlet, like everyone else, believes that King Hamlet died from a snake bite. Hamlet encounters his father's ghost, which tells him that he was murdered by Claudius. Hamlet has a hard time believing this but sets out to gain the truth from Claudius himself and subsequently kill him. Hamlet decides to start acting insane, hoping that Claudius would divulge the information he seeks. This plan backfires on Hamlet as Hamlet truly goes mad, which leads to his own downfall. After he accidentally kills Polonius, Hamlet becomes obsessed with death. He believes that everyone is equals when it comes to dying as everyone looks like a rotten skeleton in the ground, despite what they might have looked like or been in life. Hamlet's journey to killing Claudius keeps getting put off, which ultimately leads to the death of many others that need not have died, such as Laertes, Gertrude, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern. The song, "Autumn Leaves", by Ed Sheeran suits Hamlet as it is about accepting the death of another and Hamlet has accepted the death of those around him, both of his father and Ophelia.
