Gertrude moves on quickly after the death of her husband, King Hamlet. She marries her brother-in-law, which greatly upsets her son, Hamlet. Gertrude is under the impression that her late husband died from a snake bite while he was sleeping in the garden. She is shocked and disbelieving at first when she learns that Claudius murdered King Hamlet. She agrees to play along with Hamlet's game as she does not want to lose him anymore than she already has. The song, "Eet", by Regina Spektor suits Gertrude as the song is about someone who tries to erase and forget about his or her mistakes. Gertrude wants to move on from all of the scandal of her new marriage and how quickly she moved on from her husband's death.
